I have the same feelings. I would consider it if we got a great deal, but there are other vehicles that are of similar/better quality for a similar/better price.

Joe you bring of a good point. From a technical stand point it's not as easy as it sounds. How many deaths should occur before it's considered an issue? Keep in mind many accelerations either cannot be proven, or are operator error. I don't know the specific situations or how they determined the 34 deaths to be related to this issue.

The 1 in 58,000 is an interesting statistic. There are enough failure points in a car itself, many of which can cause death, that this number isn't very comforting. I didn't know there were 34 deaths due to this issue. I didn't expect a 100% recall based on the first incident, but 10 should provide enough evidence to find a solution. I'd think.

I just bought my third Toyota in about 25 years. By chance, after my 2000 Camry was totalled in an accident in mid-January, I bought a 2010 Camry just before the big recall story hit the media. Since my car had the supposedly safe Delso pedal rather than the supposedly unsafe CTS, I was able to take possession while many other cars were sitting on the dealer's lot waiting for repair. After six weeks, I have to accelerate unintentionally. I don't deny I'm a bit uneasy, but there's no question in my mind that this is a very well engineered car.

Toyotas were always "toys" to me. I drive a real, solid Japanese car — an older Subaru! (new ones are too fru-fru–like Toyotas & Hondas.

So we might not get a Toyota just to appease the wife.

I kind of agree with your sentiment, I 'd be down to by a Toyota if I were getting a CRAZY deal. The Wife, however, doesn't agree so we'll see if we end up with one (my money is on no lol)
