Betterment is not like any other broker we’ve reviewed. It’s set-and-forget investing for individuals wanting automated financial guidance at a low cost. You create a goal, and Betterment creates a personalized investment plan. Better yet, you don’t need to pay any advisor fees.
Read our review of Betterment to get a better idea of what they are about.
There’s two ways to get Betterment’s $25 signup bonus. Read carefully and determine which situation is right for you.
Betterment $25 Signup Bonus (taxable accounts only)
To qualify for this promotion, you need to deposit at least $250 into a new Betterment account. This offer is only available for taxable accounts only. IRA accounts do not qualify for this offer, BUT there is a backdoor method to qualify (see other offer). You must make the deposit within 90 days of opening your Betterment account. Currently, there’s no expiration of this offer.
Betterment $25 Refer-A-Friend
There is a backdoor way to get the $25 bonus with an IRA account. Since we are a customer of Betterment, we have access to their refer-a-friend program. For every referral, we get $10, and you get $25. To qualify for the refer-a-friend program, you must deposit at least $500 within 90 days of opening the account.
IRA accounts do not qualify for this offer. According to Betterment, the $25 bonus won’t be automatically applied to your IRA account. But they are happy to manually apply, once you’ve made the initial deposit of $500 or more, and send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
