YCharts is a financial research service that delivers data on stocks and mutual funds. It’s cheaper than a Bloomberg terminal yet provides much of the same information. This is not a product for beginner investors. If you’re a serious investor and looking for fundamental and technical charts, analysis and robust tools to manage your portfolio, YCharts is a solid choice. Its stock screener is one of the best and allows you to screen for advanced ratios and fundamental data that you cannot get on free alternatives. Its graphing functionality is the gold standard on the web and easily beats out any of the free or commercial competitors.

As far as price, YCharts finds itself in the middle tier of equity research services. Compared to the Bloomberg terminal (over $25k per year), it is a steal. But when compared to all the free services out there, and even what’s available within your brokerage account, it can appear pricey. For example, the “Standard” plan starts at $2,400 per year, while their flagship product, the “Professional” plan, starts around $4,800 per year. It all depends on which tools you want access to.

Before purchasing YCharts, I highly recommend signing up for the seven-day free trial. It’s a big investment, so make sure that you like the dashboard and that it delivers the level of analysis you’re seeking.
